Building Developer Tools with Terminal Green

Terminal Green recreates the phosphor-on-black look of early monitors, which makes it a natural fit for CLIs, code editors, observability dashboards, and developer documentation. The green primary holds its identity even at small sizes because it is the brightest chip in the system. Amber appears only for warnings and degraded status.

The canvas is close to black and the text is a soft mint, so the base reading experience stays calm while the status colors carry the meaning. Success states use the brighter green, warnings use the amber, and destructive actions fall back to the text color rather than introducing a red that does not belong to the system. Dark-mode-only products should still provide the surface token for cards so layered blocks do not melt into the canvas.
